Welcome to our Blog! Scroll down for recent posts.

Hey there!  We are Shelley & Jeff Weber, photographers from Calgary Alberta.  We are a husband and wife team who are known for our romantic realism and ability to capture those special moments and places.

This blog follows both our personal and professional life.  This is like our own photo album of the things we do, the places we go and the people we love.  We want to give you a sense of who we are and what we are about. Cheers!

Robbie & Sharon…the engagement session ( calgary wedding photographer )

We have had a lot of brave clients this year who are willing to go out in the cold to get some winter engagement sessions done, Sharon & Robbie were no exception! Jeff and I were rather excited to shoot at this junkyard..it’s always fun to shoot in new locations. Robbie brought along his guitar which was really cool and he LOVES motorcycles so this was the perfect spot. We had a lot of fun with you guys and I am pretty sure it took you a few hours to defrost! LOL Enjoy your sneak peek….

Corporate ski trip, I worked with his best friend and Robbie came as Jake’s date ;) Of course, his version is a little different. His version goes something like this, he was wearing his Arnold Schwarzenegger sunglasses and said to me “Come with me if you want to live” and boy did I want to live!!

brrrrr chilly winter family photos… (calgary photographer)

I actually really really love the way all their pics turned out! Here’s a sneak peek guys…These two are getting married next year! Congrats you two :-) aaaahhhhh the love between a brother and sister! This is the best kiss ever! LOL

Brandy - Awesome Shelley, looks like so much fun!

Taryn + Jon…the engagement session ( calgary wedding photographer)

What a great afternoon we spent with these guys! The weather was a bit chilly so when that sun started dropping our session came to an end pretty quick..lol!  Jeff and I knew these two loved to hike and spend time together outdoors but it was quite funny when we saw them out at Elbow falls the next weekend! We were out there shooting a different engagement session and there they were! What were the chances? LOL  Anyhoo enough of me chatting… enjoy your sneak peek!

When’s the big day? September 11, 2010

Charlene + Brian…the engagement session ( calgary wedding photographer)

This is a really small sneak peek because these two cuties are going to be having a destination wedding in 2011 and want to get their save the date cards out now! We just did a quick 20 min session and are doing the “real” engagement session in the summer when it’s warmer! I know they just want to see a couple…so here you go guys!

Carol & Pud - Wow!!! great pictures. Can't wait to see them all.

Joelene - Great work! Love the Save The Date!

Kari-Ann - Love the one on the blue wall! awesome!!

Danna - just lovely :-) love the last one.

Mary Lee + Jason…the engagement session (calgary wedding photographer)

We met early on a Saturday morning to do their engagement session and when I saw Mary step out of the car I didn’t recognize her at first…va-va voom..was she ever dolled up! We first met these two in the summer of 2008 when I was doing Mary’s family session and her and Jason weren’t even engaged yet. Who knew we were going to be shooting their wedding one day?! I have to admit I cannot wait for their wedding..they have a terrific family that are so funny and Mary and Jason have to be one of the most loving, kind people I have ever met. You guys are a joy to hang out with so enjoy your sneak peek…..

When’s the big day? July 17, 2010

How did you meet?
she says: After one of my friends from Toronto mentioned she knew couples that had met online, I decided to try my own luck and sign myself up on www.plentyoffish.com. You have to be careful about meeting people online, and Jason was one of the lucky ones that made the cut ;) He chose the perfect restaurant for our first date, a trendy new Japanese sushi restaurant in Kensington. We hit it off right away, and have been together ever since!

How did he/she propose?
she says: Esther and I were coming back from a month long trip to Hong Kong, and Jason was going to drive us home from the airport.
There he was, waiting with a bouquet of flowers for me. What a sweet guy! I happily accepted the gorgeous roses and gave him a big hug.
Suddenly, Jason got down on one knee. I couldn’t believe my eyes, and then he said…”Will you marry me?”…with a RING POP in his hand!
Shocked and in disbelief, I said…”is this for real? Why did you get me a ring pop?” I started crying and said…”yes”! I was so happy!
Then he took out the real ring, and said “Well, I guess I can return this one…”, to which I replied “I don’t want the ring pop anymore!”
he says: Luckily Esther was there to record the whole thing on video!! Watch for it at our wedding!!

Favorite thing about each other?
he says: so many things – but i love her big brain
she says: Jason is the sweetest – he’s very thoughtful and caring.

Your idea of a perfect date?
he says: trying something new that we both enjoy
she says: a nice meal followed by a romantic walk

Kisses, hugs or snuggles?
he says: snuggles
she says: why not all three!

What’s your favorite thing to do together?
We love trying new restaurants and eating out – our favorite places are small, family run, hole-in-the-wall restaurants.

Favorite Starbucks drink?
he says: white chocolate mocha (waaay too sweet for Mary!)
she says: i love all frappuccinos!

Your favorite hangout?
our new home, and with family.

One place in the world you must go see?
he says: Paris with my new wife
she says: i can’t pick just one place – but here’s the starting lineup
- Russia, seychelles, scuba dive in australia

What are you looking forward to the most on your wedding day?
he says: sharing in the happiness of the big day!
she says: i can’t wait to see the look on Jason’s face when we see each other for the first time that day. And it’ll be great when we are pronounced “husband and wife”!! And seeing all our family & friends together…this is gonna be a big party!!

This is what happened when I asked Jason to pick Mary up..lolJason has a ton of energy…a few examples below! LOLThis is his “signature” lookWe stopped at Starbucks for coffee and Jason picked up a cupcake so we had a little fun…Why not do the ring shot in the icing? We are slave drivers ..Jason needed a bit of a nap! LOL

Paula + Matt…the wedding (Teatro Calgary Wedding Photographer)

Wow..this was an amazing wedding to end 2009 with..yes that’s right, a New Years Eve Wedding! Paula and Matt were so collected and yet excited to be finally getting married. They were surrounded with friends and loved ones for a perfect wedding that was held at Teatro Restaurant in downtown Calgary. We got most of their pictures done (except the wine cellar ones) before their evening candle lit ceremony. It was so cold -24 (I believe ) without the wind-chill but they all braved the blistering cold to get some nice pictures on Stephen Ave. I highly recommend using Hot Shot hand warmers in that kind of weather as they kept everyone’s hands, ears and our cameras from totally freezing up. The nice thing was there were not a lot of people around to get in the way of pictures, they were all inside! LOL
Thank you guys soooo much for giving us the time to get some stunning images of you two and for having us capture your love and your amazing day. We had a fantastic time. Enjoy your sneak peek….

Sean + Livia…the wedding ( Rafter Six Ranch Wedding )

What a beautiful winter wedding! Rafter Six Ranch is such a great spot to get married, it’s romantic and the scenery is stunning. I love the fact we have the Canadian Rocky Mountains so close to Calgary, we are very lucky to live here. Sean and Livia are living out east right now but decided to hold their wedding out here where all their friends and family are. It was a perfect day, the sun was shining and the temperature hovered around zero which was bearable! LOL There were lots of laughs and I think you guys are lucky to have such great friends and family in your life! Enjoy your sneak peek… The guys were hanging out in the loft….Here she comes..how cool is that to arrive in a horse drawn sled???I love this one..Dad was peeking to see if it was time for them to come down the isle.oooh this church was FANTASTIC!!!!A candid shot of them leaving the church…Sean and Livia had a few moments to themselves as they went for a sleigh ride. I like how all their friends and family are crowded on the church stairs to see them off!haha I just had to add this…Sean’s Dad was dressed for the weather as he  chauffeured everyone from the church to the main lodge! I love this one of Sean….

Allison D. - HAHA!! YAY! I just found my new favorite blog to stalk!! ;o) Gorgeous!

Amy Sheane - You make a cold day look so warm and beautiful! Amazing!

Kim Vanderstam - A beautiful couple - a beautiful day. All captured in awesome pics. Love it! -KIM

Terra Law - Shelley and Jeff, you guys rock every session! I love all of the images from this wedding. Looking forward to working with you again in October!

Scott Plamondon - These photos are incredible. Your clients are lucky to have you. Keep up the great work.

As I See It - Hey Art! It was taken with the Nikon 10.5mm Fisheye F2.8. Both church pictures were. The 14-24mm F2.8 doesn't actually put a bend in the pic at all. I think the lines of the church and the funky roof make it look a little less extreme!

Art Yochim - Shelley, fabulous! I have a techno-geek question. Was the picture of the bride and groom walking away from you down the aisle (in colour) taken with a fish-eye or with the 14-24 on a wide setting. It seems to have some bending but not as extreme as a fish-eye.

As I See It - Hey guys! Thanks so much for the comments. That church shot was being in the right spot at the right time. Livia..so glad you guys love them! Thanks for freezing and being such rockstars :-)

Rhonda Imbeault - These rock! Love the scenery. The church is OUTSTANDING. Gorgeous couple. WICKED Photographer

Livia - I love them!!! you guys did such an amazing job!! Thank you.

Andrea Wiseman - You are amazing lady! That church shot with the light is outstanding!!!!

Sergei Belski - Very beautiful! I love the location as well!

Paula + Matt…the photobooth ( Calgary Wedding Photographer photobooth)

Well here’s the photo booth slideshow from our New Years Wedding! What a great night…we were in Teatro’s and had a blast. We had only a little corner of the restaurant for our booth so we had to use their artwork as a backdrop but I think it looks awesome! Enjoy the fun…. Pics first and slideshow last! oooh here’s a nice one of the father of the Bride! Love it!hahaha I like the serious look with the crazy get-up!! Okay..now WORK IT party people!!!

Terra Law - Looks like everyone had a blast!

Jill Smith - WOW - This looks like everyone had a lot of fun! Fabulous photos! I love a "Live" Photobooth.... -Jill

Mark + Elena…the engagement session (Calgary Wedding Photographer)

All the way from Hong Kong they flew in for the holidays to be with their families. The perfect time to do their engagement session before their wedding this summer! Our weather was chilly and they weren’t used to our weather over here but being true Canadians they toughed it out and we even got a few shots with no coats. Pure awesomeness! We had never actually met in person although we had chatted on the phone a couple of times. We really seemed to click…Elena has personality plus and she’s even cuter in person :-) It was really nice to get to spend time with these two and get to know them better. Speaking of which……

How did he/she propose?
In April of 2009 Elena went to Calgary to visit her family and friends for Easter. When Mark picked her up from the airport in Hong Kong, he took her back home to a room filled with 100 roses. He got down on one knee and asked her to marry him and she said “Of course!”.

she says: His sense of humor, no matter where we are or what we are doing he can make me laugh.

Best Wedding Photograph win from Canadian Bridal Network

Exciting news! We recently won the Canadian Bridal Network’s Best Wedding Photographs contest of 2009… beating  500+ other entries. What’s really exciting is we were a multiple winner and had one runner up!

Here’s what they had to say…

Besides the obvious artistic and minimum technical requirements (technique, composition, colours, creativity etc) what we ultimately looked for was (a) the simple “wow factor” – would the bride/couple frame a large format version of this photo and display it in their living-room? would it dazzle their quests? (b) the “wedding factor” – is this a great photo or a great wedding photo? Unfortunately this meant that some incredible photographs did not “make the cut”, because they “could have been anywhere”, not necessarily at a wedding… In short, we looked for the type of image that would make you want to do it all over again, even if you were already married !

“one shooter actually had two photos on the list! (did you notice?) Wow.. extra kudos goes to As I See It in Calgary. We were not sure if we should “allow” this, but since during the selection process, the photos had been totally “anonymised” – they just had a serial number – it was only fair to leave them as-selected.”

Check out the article and the other winning entries HERE
