Jodi + Kyle…the engagement session ( calgary wedding photographer )

We had the neighbours wondering what was going on when Kyle and Jodi pulled into our driveway before we headed out to do their engagement session. Kyle is a police officer and he was in his cruiser. How awesome was that?? LOL but it did give the neighbours something to talk about. I should have went and sat in the back! Hee heee although I may have got licked to death…Kyle has a sniffer dog (the black dog )so he is part of the K9 unit. The cruiser is actually quite amazing inside..there are fans to keep the dog at a constant temp and alarms and the part I really liked is the spot for the dog is big and the part for the criminal is really small. LOL. I had to snoop….

Anyhoo enough about my little excitement there! These two are so sweet and we had so much fun hanging out for a couple of hours. It was beautiful out and we did manage to still have some hoar frost on the trees which looks fantastic with the rich blue skies!

We are looking forward to your wedding and we love your dogs. Especially Cash…he is a cool looking fur dude..those eyes!

When’s the big day?
August 1st, 2010

How did you meet?
At a Flames game. (He’s an oilers fan…booo)

How did he/she propose?
He came to my work one day at lunch (never happens) just to hang. I asked him what he was doing, he said it was taco tuesday at the mall so he was getting tacos. (what? Tacos? okay…weird) He was being so nice, but weird. When I got home from work he was cooking dinner, and was just being overly friendly and awkward. I kept making suggestions to go downstairs to hang out, and he would just go along with everything I said (weird). So I was setting up the wii and my dog Cash was hanging around, Kyle kept smiling and hinting to look at Cash. Eventually I noticed the ring dangling from his collar! Then he proposed! Awwww. So sweet. Tacos = ring! haha!

Favorite thing about each other?
he says:sense of humor, back scartches
she says: sense of humor, he’s my protector, keeps me safe!

Your idea of a perfect date?
he says:have a few drinks, watching the game
she says:out for some drinks, enjoying each other’s company.

Walk the dogs, hang out at home.

he says:vanilla latte

Chelsea + John…the engagement session part 2 (calgary wedding photographer)

This is the second part to their engagement session..a big dust storm blew through Calgary and brought our session to a quick end the first time. When’s the big day?
September 10th 2011 the dates go 9-10-11

How did you meet? We met at a the Backalley Night Club of all places. Its true ,you can find love at a bar. John new the words to Bon Jovi – Livin on a Prayer! I fell in LOVE!

How did he/she propose?
Earlier that day he came and took me out for lunch at work. He was really extra nice. When I got home from work he said there was something he wanted to give me. He had me sit down on the kitchen chair and left the room. When he came back he said how much he loved me and that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I said YES. And cried a lot! We then had a special dinner out and movie. We told nobody until the next day. We wanted to spend that night together!

Favorite thing about each other?
he says: her fun and quirky personality
she says: his sense of humour and the way he always puts me first.

Your idea of a perfect date?
he says: Dinner and the latest flick.
she says: Dinner out and Rollerskating

Relax and staying in bed on Sundays

Beautiful girl on the outside..stunning is probably a better fit but she is one of the sweetest girls on the inside too. It has been a few years since I have seen Beth (family photo session), so when I saw how she has blossomed into this beauty that is starting her career in modeling I was so happy to be able to go out and photograph her again. There really something about capturing the beauty of a young woman..she has confidence, self esteem and she is up for any ideas I have. It really is fun for me and does not seem like work in the least bit! I am totally cheating and blogging her before a few other sessions.. seeing as I just shot these yesterday afternoon. But I wanted to, sooooo….I did! LOL
A bigger blog post will go up next week!

Another chilly engagement session but this time we were at Elbow Falls in Bragg Creek. I love it out there…soooo beautiful. Carly & Troy were troopers walking out into the middle of the field in the deep snow so I could do the shot with the umbrella .. LOL. I have had that shot in mind for awhile. We had a great time spending the afternoon with you guys and thanks for sitting in the snow and freezing all with good humour! Can’t wait for your wedding. Enjoy your sneak peek…

When’s the big day?
October 30, 2010

How did you meet?
We met, unintentionally, through MSN Messenger. Somehow we were added to each others MSN Messengers. We messaged one another asking, “who are you?”. Although, we didn’t know each other we continued to talk for over MSN Messenger for 3 months before finally meeting. The first time meeting each other in person we went skateboarding. The rest is history

How did he/she propose? Troy proposed on my birthday (August 19th, 2009). He asked me, if I wanted to go for a birthday dinner in Bragg Creek because it’s something we’ve always wanted to do. We had dinner at the Steak Pit and after dinner Troy asked if I wanted to go for a walk because we’re never in Bragg Creek and it was an extremely nice evening (it always rains on my birthday). We parked at a beautiful spot near the river. I was barely to the bank of the river when Troy got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! He appeared a bit excited to ask. I started to cry and it took a few minutes to register before I said, “OF COURSE!”. He jumped up to hug me when I said, “you need to put the ring on my finger”. He placed the $0.25 toy ring on my finger. Just the ring I always wanted We later went out and chose a real ring together.

Favorite thing about each other?
he says: How kind and thoughtful she is.
she says: His bum and all the little things he does for me.

Your idea of a perfect date?
he says: Going to dinner at Jack Astors and then going to see the Used in concert.
she says: Going to a concert to see one of our favorite bands.

Kisses, hugs or snuggles?
he says: Kisses.
she says: Snuggle, snuggles, snuggling, and being snuggled.

What’s your favorite thing to do together?
Travel.

Who takes longer to get ready?
he says: Carly.
she says: I will admit me, but I wanted to say Troy because when I’m done getting ready he then decides to get ready. Hence, I’m left waiting for him.

Favorite Starbucks drink?
he says: Orange juice.
she says: I don’t have because I don’t drink Starbucks (I’m a sinner I know); however, my favorite “thing” at Starbucks is their Pumpkin Loaf.

Favorite restaurant?
he says: Wendy’s.
she says: Joey Tomatoes.

Your favorite hangout?
Our new/first home in Cochrane.

One place in the world you must go see?
he says: Rome.
she says: Greece.

What are you looking forward to the most on your wedding day?
he says: Family and friends.
she says: The moment when we see each other for the first time and spending our special day with family and friends.

A dogs point of view… (calgary photographer)

Every morning after Jeff leaves for work I sit at the kitchen table enjoying a bit of facebook, the sunrise and a cup of coffee before I start my day. Ryder is often wandering about and quite frequently sits by my side and looks out the window. Today I had my camera beside me because I love how he looks from behind as he gazes out the window. Fuzzy head, crazy mismatched ears and intent stare as he searches for something unknown to me. I meant to put my camera down after I took the picture but I wondered what he found so captivating out in the yard.

With steam rising from my fresh cup of coffee I abandoned it. Camera in hand and furry friend by my side we trekked into the backyard to see what was so interesting. Here’s a few images I took before the warmth of the house called my name….

Robbie & Sharon…the engagement session ( calgary wedding photographer )

We have had a lot of brave clients this year who are willing to go out in the cold to get some winter engagement sessions done, Sharon & Robbie were no exception! Jeff and I were rather excited to shoot at this junkyard..it’s always fun to shoot in new locations. Robbie brought along his guitar which was really cool and he LOVES motorcycles so this was the perfect spot. We had a lot of fun with you guys and I am pretty sure it took you a few hours to defrost! LOL Enjoy your sneak peek….

When’s the big day?
April 3, 2010

How did you meet?
Corporate ski trip, I worked with his best friend and Robbie came as Jake’s date Of course, his version is a little different. His version goes something like this, he was wearing his Arnold Schwarzenegger sunglasses and said to me “Come with me if you want to live” and boy did I want to live!!

How did he/she propose?
He proposed on the Eiffel Tower overlooking Paris…sigh…romantic.

Favorite thing about each other?
he says: She’s funny.
she says: He makes me giggle. We obviously think alike!

Your idea of a perfect date?
he says: A nice romantic ride through the countryside with Sharon on the back of my motorcycle, a perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon with the woman I love.
she says: It will involve Robbie in an apron in the kitchen, and me “helping” with a glass of champagne. Did I mention at least 3 courses?

Kisses, hugs or snuggles?
he says: sounds good!
she says: yes please!

What’s your favorite thing to do together?
Make sweet love…can you write that??

Favorite Starbucks drink?
he says: Grande frappacino
she says: 1/2 sweet skinny vanilla chai latte (but I’m more a Timmy’s girl)

Schooners Pub (walking distance of course!)

One place in the world you must go see?
he says: Cuba
she says: Africa – I need to go on a safari

What are you looking forward to the most on your wedding day?
he says: the wedding night!
she says: saying I will. No wait…the fabulous pictures! Ha ha ha!

What a great afternoon we spent with these guys! The weather was a bit chilly so when that sun started dropping our session came to an end pretty quick..lol! Jeff and I knew these two loved to hike and spend time together outdoors but it was quite funny when we saw them out at Elbow falls the next weekend! We were out there shooting a different engagement session and there they were! What were the chances? LOL Anyhoo enough of me chatting… enjoy your sneak peek!

When’s the big day? September 11, 2010

How did you meet? We originally met in our first year of high school, awwwwwwww, but we didn’t really become close friends until our grade 12 year. We “officially” started dating on the 2nd of September in our first year of university.

How did he/she propose? Jon took Taryn out to lake Louise for a romantic getaway, under the guise of hiking for the weekend. She suspected that he was up to something, but thankfully was surprised on Friday night when he dropped the Q-bomb. We did end up hiking the next day…up to our hips in snow!

Favorite thing about each other?
he says: Her sense of humor, and how amazingly intelligent she is.
she says: His laugh, and how he always knows when I need to hear it.

Your idea of a perfect date?
he says: Cooking Indian and then snugglin’ on the couch with the fire on, watching Star Trek.
she says: A big day of hiking or skiing followed by dinner at the Grizzly Paw.

This is a really small sneak peek because these two cuties are going to be having a destination wedding in 2011 and want to get their save the date cards out now!
